Tonight we face a bit of a new concern, a possible complication from Peyton's catheterization this morning. My dad was looking at Peyton and observed that her right foot was colder than the rest of her. He brought it to the nurse's attention, and she couldn't locate the pulse with a Doppler.
The attending doctor took a crack, and he felt a pulse but not with the strength he'd expect or desire. It's possible that a clot has formed from the catheter insertion this morning and drifted down her leg to partially block flow to her foot. The attending ordered a blood thinner, and we are waiting and watching closely. Should it not work, we may be in for a long night as vascular surgery could become a real possibility.
What a freakin' long day!
