Day 16 - PM

Here's what we know. Peyton's lungs are still battling with fluid. The doctor upped the diuretic and wants Peyton off the oxygen before sending her home.

As for feeding Peyton, well, Rayna's milk production dropped off drastically over the last two days. Thankfully, we were able to work out a plan with the medical team to stop trying with the bottle and return to breast feeding. Hopefully that will get my dairy queen back in full production.

So now the timeline for getting Peyton home looks like it could be the middle or end of this week.

Here are some photos from today...

  6. Father God,
Breathe Your breath into Peyton's lungs to dry up the fluid. Give her a hunger for her mother's milk to strengthen her. Continue to heal her little body. Thank you for of ALL You have done to heal her. We have seen your healing touch and are so grateful to a loving Father that has answered our prayers and graciously given so much. Continue to bless this precious family. Amen

  7. For some great information on getting milk production up when it slows, go to kellymom.com. There is great information there, as well as a message board that lactation consultants monitor.

  8. What beautiful pictures! Remember, Grant and I stand ready to do a jail break and get Peyton out of there (you know that little trouble-maker-to-be would love it). Just kidding but we are praying for continued recovery and a speedy return home.

  9. We are rooting for a quick homecoming! Karl, your girls are beautiful in the photos.

In terms of nursing resources: I second the kellymom.com recommendation. And I bet there is a La Leche League in your area, they could also offer some good advice. But don't stress about the nursing thing. Peyton is getting the best start she can possibly have just by having you two as loving, wonderful parents -- no matter what she drinks!
