Day 17 - AM

Peyton is off the oxygen. I repeat: Peyton is off the oxygen. And she took 60 ml by bottle this morning. Woohoo!

One of the surgeons checked in with us this morning and said Peyton was looking good and would likely go home tomorrow or Thursday barring any surprises.

Rayna's milk is picking back up. It frustrates her to have the physical process of milk production so easily and quickly disrupted by emotions. When Dr. Fox came in to update us this morning, Rayna was secluded in our room's private bathroom for pumping. Agitated over not being able to hear Fox's report, she saw her milk stop immediately.

Here's a photo of Peyton having her PICC line removed this morning...

  6. Keep working with Peyton on the nursing. The more she nurses with Rayna, the more milk Rayna is going to produce (I hope I spelled her name wrong!). I had all sorts of problems when I first started nursing, and my lactation consultants were WONDERFUL in helping me out. Dad, you have to support mom in every way you possibily can when it comes to breast feeding. Bring Peyton to her when you get home, make sure mom is eating LOTS and drinking LOTs and lots of water. There are herbal suppliments that work, and there are even prescriptions if things don't get better in a few weeks. Just keep at it!

  7. So glad to hear she is doing so well! I pray she goes home soon and you are all able to relax and enjoy just being a family together. I know how hard nursing is and will continue to pray for rayna and peyton as they both learn together. Thanks for all the updates we check daily. Laura & brian
