In the category of things unsaid...

You know, the problem with late night emails is that you forget to say some things and say some thing you want to forget… Well, not so much the later for me last night, but I did want to pass along some additional info and pictures which I forgot about in the wee hours of the morn’.

First, I’ve attached a couple more pictures we took last night. Talk about itty bitty feet and hands.

Second, in the picture where I’m holding her, you can see the new IV line they’ve attached to her head. If memory serves, this is to allow them to flow more food, meds, etc., into her bloodstream without risking a rupture in one of the smaller veins in her hands.

Third, last night the Parkers were awesome bringing dinner over and keeping us company for a bit. So many of you have offered to do likewise or help out with things around the house, errands, etc., and we’re so grateful. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have the administrative horsepower that I normally function with, so I haven’t been able to think of needs and respond to each inquiry. Barbara Conley offered to set up a care calendar of sorts, so if you’d like to help, please contact her to find out how to do so.

Fourth, thanks for the encouraging notes, text messages, and emails. I apologize again for not responding to each individually, but please don’t think that’s because we don’t appreciate them. We do! We do! We do!

Fifth, (ok so this is turning out to be a longer email than I expected…) if you’d still like to visit us even though Rayna’s out of the hospital, please do. Rayna’s having to stay rather flat at home, and she and I would love the company. So call me (413-9237) with a couple times in mind, and we’ll figure something out in between our hospital visits.

Sixth, there is some discussion about how and where to take the next steps after Peyton’s catheterization. Should we find a local specialist or go to Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, etc., to find a specialist more familiar with this procedure? Thankfully we are blessed with many friends and family with medical expertise, connections, and experience who are sharing their thoughts and perspective. Please pray for discernment for us on how to move forward. I don’t want to get too far ahead of things seeing how we don’t yet have an appointment for the catheterization, but this is some major thinking and praying ahead probably worthy of getting a head start.

Seventh, I hate it when I get facts wrong, so here are some corrections… The mid-wife’s birth notes say that Rayna was pushing in the final stage of delivery for over 3 hours before deciding to transport… The incidence rate of Peyton’s heart defect is unclear. My brother-in-law found only 130 cases over an unknown time period of this defect in his research.
